Author and Minister Joyce Meyer eloquently said, “Patience is not simply the ability to wait – it’s how we behave while we are waiting.” We have to put that to the test when things don’t go the way we think they should in our personal lives, and in the world around us.

Every day we are faced with a choice about how we will respond when things don’t go as we would like. Robert Burns put it so well, “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” I wish we could control all outcomes, but that is impossible. We choose how we react, how we speak (or type) to others, and believe it or not, we choose to be angry or not.

As a City, we try to plan and coordinate so that activities and projects go off with a minimal amount of hiccups. Sometimes circumstances thwart our plans, and we have to pivot.  This is the same in our neighborhoods, families and work/school, etc. We are all in this together, let’s choose to support and uplift rather than blame, tear down and react. There are bound to be issues in the future that will need to be dealt with, but we can do it better, together. Thank you for your continued support and patience as we move forward as friends and neighbors to build community.
