Eagle Scout Projects
The City of Cedar Hills has service opportunities available from time to time. If you are interested in being involved in these activities or have an idea for a service activity, please contact us. Service projects can include opportunities for families, youth groups, Scouts, and neighborhood groups. Your willingness to serve our community is appreciated.
Eagle Scout Projects
In addition to providing service and fulfilling the part of the Scout Oath, “to help other people at all times,” one of the primary purposes of the Eagle Scout service project is to demonstrate and hone, or learn and develop, leadership skills. Related to this is the motivation in learning important lessons in project management and taking the responsibility for a significant accomplishment.
The following information will assist you to get your project started with the City of Cedar Hills. Please fill out the Eagle Project Application, which will provide us with necessary information about your proposed project and will help ensure that the project is started in a timely manner. Please return the completed application, along with the Volunteer Services Agreement form, to the Public Works Department (10246 N Canyon Road). Upon approval of your application, the city will contact you with further information concerning the scope and details of the project.
Contacting Cedar Hills
Cedar Hills wants you to be successful at completing your project. To ensure that this happens, you will need to make contact frequently with the leader of the division who is assisting with your project. You will be informed of the person to contact. For general questions about the project, please contact the Public Works Department (801-785-9668, ext. 200 or 202).
Funding the Project
A big portion of your project may be the raising of adequate funds to complete the project. The City of Cedar Hills can sometimes provide funding for projects. However, please don’t assume that every project will be funded by the city. It is the responsibility of the Scout to provide funding for the project through donations of time, material and/or money from members of the community. The city has limited funds and only, in rare circumstances, will participate in funding the project.

Project Ideas
The City of Cedar Hills receives many requests each year to provide Eagle Scout projects. Please remember, it is the responsibility of the Scout, in keeping with the spirit of the Eagle project, to approach the city with their own idea for a project and then to work closely with the city in implementing the proposal. We invite you to tour the city, looking for areas that need improvement.
The project ideas below are very general, with the intention to encourage the Scout to take an opportunity to recognize and identify possibilities. Please keep in mind that the City of Cedar Hills will not approve general maintenance projects, such as curb painting, cleaning parks, trails, ditches, etc., unless they are approved first by the Scout’s leaders and the Scout Council.
